The Ministry of Health of Ukraine has published the Standards of Medical Care for Kawasaki Disease on its official website
Back in 2023, our Association initiated the creation of a multidisciplinary working group and the development of this important document.
The working group included leading experts from various fields: pediatric immunologists, cardiologists, interventional cardiologists, rheumatologists, infectious disease specialists, and pediatricians.
The Ukrainian standards have been adapted based on the recommendations of the American Heart Association (2017), taking into account the 2024 updates, and are closely aligned with current international approaches.
A clinical guideline on Kawasaki disease is also available on the website of the State Expert Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
🔴 Only a limited number of countries globally have officially adopted national guidelines on this topic.
The primary goal of these standards is to optimize the delivery of medical care for children and patients who have had Kawasaki disease, as well as to increase physicians’ awareness in order to prevent the development of severe, sometimes life-threatening complications.
Today, Ukraine has already established a strong foundation for combating this insidious disease:
- state support for treatment
- approved standards of medical care
- availability of essential medications
🔴Some key provisions of the Standard are outlined below
